How do I collect the PPP packets in different modes - Relay/Network mode of Tethered DUN(Dial Up Networking) call and Embedded Socket call?
Answer:
1. Relay mode of Tethered DUN call:
The PPP stack runs on TE but there is no PPP running on modem. So the PPP information can only be collected from TE side as follows:
a. The PPP logging of DUN call for the Windows can be collected by Netsh commands for RAS. Please refer to solution 00002895 for more details.
b. The PPP packets can be collected by network sniffer tools, e.g., Ethereal/ Wireshark.
2. Network mode of Tethered DUN call:
The PPP stack runs on both TE and modem. So the PPP packets can be collected on both sides as follows:
a. TE side: it's the same as Relay mode;
b. Modem side: Enable the QXDM "PPP logging" mask and collect the QXDM log, then extract the PPP packets from *.isf file by "PPP Extractor" tool (located at QXDM Menu/Tools)
3. Embedded Socket call
The PPP stack runs on modem and the step to collect PPP packets is the same as 2.b
great work admin.
