Question:
How to collect RAM dumps using QPST memory debug/USB logging?
How to collect RAM dumps without using JTAG?
How to collect RAM dumps for UE reset/crash issue?
Answer:
The UE has to be in download mode in order to collect RAM dumps using QPST.
Please follow the below steps for collecting RAM dumps along with mDSP logs:1. Set NV 1027=1 ----> This enables taking mDSP logs2. Set NV 4399 (DETECT_HW_RESET) = 1 ----> This enables the UE to enter download mode when a reset is detected.3. Reset the UE for the NV change to take effect.4. Start the QPST memory debug application (QPST 2.7.225 or later is needed) and connect the UE thru appropriate COM port.5. Once the Reset has been detected the UE will go into download mode, if the UE isn't listed in download mode then disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to the phone.6. Press the "get regions" button, which will request the list of memory regions available for upload from the phone.7. Select the memory regions to upload to the PC from the list. 8. Press the "Save To" button. First you will need to select a location to save the logs. The upload will begin automatically once the directory has been specified. 9. Wait for the upload to complete (a progress bar is displayed) 10. Retrieve the log files from the directory specified previously.
